Why Blue Sky
Holistic Psychotherapy?

Why Blue Sky Holistic Psychotherapy?

We draw on the connection between the mind and body. Body-based approaches such as nutrition, breathwork and body-awareness may be included with talk-therapy to help regulate your mind and nervous system.

We hold a fundamental belief in people and their ability to cope with life’s challenges. Challenges and obstacles are opportunities for transformation and growth. Self-compassion and mindfulness are essential parts of the process.

Together, we decide on the therapeutic approach that’s best for you. We continually seek your feedback to ensure we are on track and meeting your needs.

We use specific steps, strategies and tools from session-to-session to help you get where you want to go.

Your confidentiality is an ethical standard. We aim to create a safe, accepting space where you’ll feel seen, heard, known and valued.

We draw on your strengths, insight, wisdom and resilience to help you move forward.

The biggest risk you can take in life is to divorce the voices in your head and marry the beat of your awakened heart.

Somatic approaches (“Somatics”) use the mind-body connection to tune into physical sensations which in turn help improve emotional awareness and regulation. Breathwork (a somatic approach) refers to various types of breathing techniques that can improve mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing via stress reduction, increased self-awareness and processing of emotions and trauma.

Psychotherapy and nutritional counselling are not covered by OHIP but you may have coverage in your extended health care plan. Please check with your insurance provider to see if you have coverage for a Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and/or a Certified Holistic Nutritionist.

Yes. We do offer a few sliding scale spots. Additional resources are Affordable Therapy Network or this resource by ScopeHub.

Yes. Our nutritional counselling is for those seeking a holistic approach to overall mind-body wellness. There is a proven connection between nutrition, brain, and gut function, depression and anxiety.

We do not work with formally diagnosed eating disorders. This is a speciality. However, for someone who has either recovered from an eating disorder and/or is struggling with disordered eating patterns/body image challenges, we can provide support. Treatment for eating disorders can be found at centres such as The Kyla Fox Centre or Sheena’s Place.

Holistic psychotherapy includes both traditional “top-down” psychotherapy (the mind) and “bottom up” somatic and nutrition approaches (the body) to harness the transformative mind-body connection.

We don’t currently offer therapy for couples, family and children/adolescents. We will offer these services moving forward, though. Stay tuned
